YANKTON, S.D. — Central Christian College’s soccer teams hit the daily double on Saturday.

The Tigers completed a two-game road trip into South Dakota by sweeping Mount Marty as both teams were 2-0 on the weekend.

• Central women 2, Mount Marty 1 — The Tigers evened their record at 3-3 with the narrow win, achieved on goals by Rachel Meier and Isabel Sierra, the latter goal coming with 6 minutes left in the game.

Goldie Bougher had a half-dozen saves for Central.

“Overall our goal was to come to South Dakota and get two wins and we did that,"  Central coach Scott Fogarty said. "They weren't pretty, but the rules state if we outscore the other team we win. Today Rachel scored a great goal with her left foot from about 25 yards out and hopefully it gives her the confidence to unleash more shots. Izzy (Sierra) finished off a good team passing move for the winning goal, with Jocelyn (Martinez) playing a great pass to unlock the defense. We just need to be more consistent in attack or our intensity on defense."

After busy early schedule, the Tigers get a much-needed break as they are off until Sept. 19 when they play at York.

• Central men 3, Mount Marty 1 — The Tigers chalked up their fourth straight win since an opening-game loss.

“I am very happy with the road trip this weekend," Central coach Aaron Hoxie said. "We came here to get two wins and that's what we did. We continue to get better each day, and that's a huge objective for every person on the team. Also, great to have Lorenzo (Davalos) get healthy. He gives us a huge presence in the midfield and some much needed depth."

The Tiger goals came from Gabriel Flores, Joshua Taylor and Joshua Dalton. For Taylor, he has scored in all five games and has found the net 10 times as he’s among the most prolific scorers in the nation.

Antonio Ramirez Villa had 5 saves in goal to pick up the win.

Central makes another road trip on Tuesday as it travels to Omaha to take on Grace University.
