The sting of McPherson High’s 9-0 football loss to Maize South on Friday was somewhat eased here Monday as the Bullpup JVs and freshmen avenged that defeat.

• MHS JV 26, Maize South 14 — Jakob Feil bolted 60 yards for a touchdown with 3:50 left in the game to clinch the Bullpups’ victory and it evened their record at 1-1.

Feil earlier had dashed 16 yards for a score and also had a 2-point conversion.

Jonah Clarke scored on a 1-yard run and Kaleb Hoppes hooked up with Riley Koehn for a 12-yard scoring strike.

• MHS 9th 14, Maize South 0 — The Bullpups’ defense pitched the shutout and MHS scored on a pair of 1-yard runs.

The first was by Jayton Alexander, with the conversion failing. Neill Raymond then scored on a plunge in the third quarter and he added the 2-point conversion for good measure.

MHS is now 1-1.

Both Bullpup teams take to the road next Monday for games at Winfield.
