WELLINGTON — McPherson’s ninth-grade volleyball team won its first two matches on Thursday before coming up short in its third in the lengthy Wellington quad.
The Bullpups defeated Circle (25-11, 20-25, 15-11) and Andale (25-17, 23-25, 15-9) before losing to Wellington (23-25, 20-25).
MHS is 10-4 on the year.
“The girls played well tonight considering we were missing two team members due to illness,” MMS coach Danica Fitzmorris said. “Taylor Casebeer stepped in and did a fantastic job setting, Lexi Kynaston had an outstanding night transitioning to outside hitter, and Melissa Mintzer stepped up and played well on the right side, both hitting and setting. The girls fell short in the last game against Wellington, where a few calls did not go our way, and we lost both games by short margins. Olivia Morgan also had a great night at libero.”
MMS goes to Wichita Collegiate Thursday.
