Fearless likes Bullpups in a big way

The area football teams are haunting Fearless Forecaster.

For the second straight week, the area teams caused FF consternation as he was again 3-3.

For the week, Fearless was 16-7 to drop to 40-13 on the season for just over 75 percent as he fell back from his 80-percent first week.

He missed last week on Smoky Valley losing at Larned, Canton-Galva rolling Rural Vista, which caught him by surprise, and Little River being defeated by Bennington.

Also, Fearless missed on McPherson High’s loss at Maize South. In the KCAC, Sterling —without quicksilver quarterback Cedrick Phillips — knocked off Mayville State. In the Big 12, Fearless’ misses were Baylor (how could it lose to UTSA?) and Arkansas getting whacked at home by TCU

• AVCTL DIVISION III •

McPherson 35, Winfield 7 — The Vikings are going to have a hard time moving the ball.

Augusta 42, Circle 6 — From all indications, Circle is the bottom team in the league.

Maize South 35, KC Washington 0 — Don’t be surprised if the Mavericks make it three shutouts in a row.

Abilene 20, Andover Central 14 – This will give us an idea of how strong Abilene is.

Buhler 45, Wichita Collegiate 38 — Buhler has revenge on its mind.

• Last week — 3-1. Season — 7-1.

• AREA •

Canton-Galva 35, Peabody 28 — Time to hop on the Eagles’ bandwagon.

Sterling 28, Inman 12 — Brutal schedule to open the season for Inman.

Hesston 42, Larned 35 — This game will produce about 800 yards.

Wakefield 44, Little River 28 — The Redskins have to find some defense.

Ell-Saline 35, Moundridge 21 — Always a tough one for the Wildcats.

Smoky Valley 35, Haven 6 — The Vikes will dominate.

• Last week — 3-3. Season — 6-6

• KCAC •

Bethany 41, McPherson College 28 — Fearless keeps saying Bethany is going to be the conference’s sleeper team.

Kansas Wesleyan 31, Saint Mary 27 — The Coyotes well remember it was Saint Mary that knocked them out of the playoffs last year on the final week of the season.

Sterling 45, Southwestern 23 — The Warriors may have the conference’s most explosive offense.

Tabor 38, Bethel 7 — The Bluejays begin defense of their conference championship.

Ottawa 31, Friends 19 – A pair of 0-2 teams, one wins for the first time.

• Last week — 3-1. Season — 12-3.

• BIG 12 •

Ohio 52, Kansas 35 — David Beaty’s seat gets warmer. D-coodinator Clint Bowen, though, might be out the door after this one.

West Virginia 63, Delaware State 7 – Why even schedule this game?

Iowa State 35, Akron 26 – Iowa State should have beaten Iowa last week. Gave it away.

Oklahoma State 49, Pittsburgh 38 — The Cowboys are simply going to outscore teams.

Duke 31, Baylor 21 — An 0-3 start for Baylor after this one. Who would have thunk?

TCU 48, SMU 20 — The Horned Frogs are better than expected.

Oklahoma 65, Tulane 17 — The Sooners made a national statement by throttling Ohio State in Columbus.

Kansas State 37, Vanderbilt 24 — The Wildcats stay perfect.

Texas Tech 54, Arizona State 43 — No defense to speak of for either team.

USC 35, Texas 14 — First meeting since the infamous national championship game.

• Last week — 7-2. Season — 16-3.
