MARION — Canton-Galva had a full complement of runners compete in various divisions of the Marion Invitational Cross Country Meet on Tuesday.

The Eagles were strong in the younger divisions. Morgan Becker won the eighth-grade boys race and Hayden Lance was third. Leah Silsby was third in the JV girls race and Logan Miller was seventh in the boys JV race.

“Morgan and Hayden both have been doing very well this season, placing in the Top 5 of each race they have run so far,” C-G coach Lyle Silsby said. “Morgan has won three of the four and placed second in the race he didn't win. We have great potential coming to the high school next season.

“Chase (Klinkerman) ran another good race and was a minute faster than last year at this same course,” Silsby said. “Logan continues to improve and is slowly rebuilding his knee strength from his ACL surgery last school year. Most of the kids have been sick with the virus that is going around and struggle to breathe well, so I am hoping we can get everyone healthy by the time league and regional meets roll around.”
