GARDEN PLAIN — Hesston High’s volleyball team still has only one loss on the season after taking a dual match on Thursday from Garden Plain.

The Swathers won 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 in the best-three-of-five format.

“We played with more energy than we have the past couple of weeks and we knew we would have to step up against a Garden Plain team that has defeated some of the top teams in the state so far this season,” Hesston coach Jason Peters said. “We struggled with serve receive throughout the night, but made up for that with strong setting and hitting. Our blocking and defense was improved tonight, which kept us in the game and gave our hitters a chance to score.”

Kailey Jo Ince threw down 18 kills to lead the attack. Alaina Dunlavy contributed 30 assists, Rylie Schilling had 4 blocks and Mia Loganbill had 12 digs, with Ince adding 10.

Hesston improved to 16-1 and goes to Hillsboro on Tuesday.
