WICHITA — The competition in the Wichita Collegiate Tournament of Champions far exceeds what McPherson High’s tennis team will see next month in the Class 4A State Tournament.

The T of C is actually a conclave of the very best programs in the state in all classes.

“This tournament is always tougher than a state tournament, so you find out quick how you stack up,” MHS coach Tyler Brown said. “Unfortunately in a tournament like this you can not afford a slow start and we did exactly that with everyone losing in the first round.”

Maisie Edmonson was 3-2 for 19th in singles, while Taylor Bruce was 1-4 for 30th. In doubles, CeAnna Allen-Rachel Carlson went 2-3 for 22nd while Ashley Achilles and Cheyann Williams took 29th by going 3-3.

The Bullpups scored 60 points to finish in 14th out of 18 team. Blue Valley North scored 196 points to win the title.

MHS will be hosting its second of two invitational tournaments on Saturday, but first tunes up on Tuesday at Goddard.
