Tiger golfers earn medalist honors

HESSTON — Central Christian College’s men’s golf team had the low two scores in a dual match with Sterling on Saturday at neutral-site Hesston, but the Warriors edged the Tigers by two shots for the team title, 308-310.

CCC’s Lowell Stephens was medalist with a 75, one stroke better than teammate Collin Duckworth, who tied for second with two Warriors.

Other Central scores were Trehern McGill (78), Matt Rettinger (80), Tyler Swanson (81), Nathan Segler (84), JP Ray (85) and Doug Blanchard (86).

Sterling had two 76s, a 77 and 78 for its best four scores.

CCC’s women had the two medalists at Kari Kirl and MaiLeAna Bruce both shot 88. Sterling did not have enough players for a team score.

Other Tiger scores were Sarah Gordzelik (99), Summer Bruce (103) and Vanessa Warner (113).
