NEWTON — McPherson’s eighth-grade volleyball A-team continues to roll right along uninterrupted.
The Bullpups improved to 11-0 on Monday with straight-set wins over Derby North (25-20, 25-14) and Newton (25-15, 25-19).
“I am proud of the girls for being able to close out the matches tonight, but this was definitely not our best effort, as we let the matches get closer than they should have been,” MMS coach Jacque Colgrove said. “Both Derby North and Newton were able to go on a run against us, and we fueled that run with missed serves, hitting errors and mental mistakes. We will look to improve our passing and serving before facing Derby and Lakewood at home next Monday.”
The B-team also fashioned a sweep to move to 13-2 on the season. It had a much easier time with routs of Derby North (25-8, 25-9) and Newton (25-12, 25-13).
“Both matches we had great team effort by every player,” MMS coach Aimee McDaniel said. “We served, passed, set and hit well all night. They came out fired up and ready to win.”
