LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s women’s golf team won the first tournament in the school’s history.
The Swedes were a runaway winner in the recent Missouri Valley College Invitational, led by medalist Aspen Bryant, who had rounds of 73-78-151.
“I am very proud of the ladies this week at Missouri Valley's tournament. To go there and win by 29 shots over the host team and five other teams, and to get our first win as a women's program is a great accomplishment,” Bethany coach Dalton Stevens said. “It's even more impressive to think that we did this with four freshmen. The record we broke two weeks ago in Iowa, we broke again the first day by seven shots shooting 329. We really learned a lot about ourselves and how to play with a lead going into the final round. The excitement around the women's program is very exciting going forward.”
BC’s Savannah Pinson was second with 83-83-166. Other Bethany scores were Marisa Loya (85-83-168), Ger’Kayla Tunley (88-91-179) and Joie Francis-Ramirez (100-97-197).
