ANDALE — Andale’s varsity football team is undefeated and it appears its success won’t end anytime soon.
The Indians’ JV and ninth-grade teams swept McPherson High in games played on Monday.
The MHS JVs lost 22-6, though Andale scored in the closing moments for a more decisive look. The Bullpups’ score came on a 4-yard run by Kaleb Hoppes.
It was just a 7-0 game through three quarters before Andale scored 15 points in the final period.
Andale was a 26-6 winner in the ninth-grade game.
Down 12-0 at the half, MHS’ Aaron Powell cut the lead in half when he returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown.
But Andale took over from there.
“We didn’t play as well as we are capable of,” MHS coach Heath Gerstner said. “I was proud of our guys for not quitting and competing until the end, but without question we have to get better. Andale was the more physical team tonight.”
