Fearless likes Bullpups to win comfortably

Fearless Forecaster began the arduous climb back to respectability last week by going 16-2, a marked improvement over the 12-8 disaster of two weeks ago.

Fearless has inched back toward his coveted 80 percent goal as he’s now at 91-26 for 78 percent.

The only misses last week were McPherson College knocking off Bethel (Fearless told me he was using it to inspire the Bulldogs) and Texas going into Ames and sleepwalking past Iowa State in what for the Big 12 was a throwback score of 17-7.

• AVCTL D-III •

McPherson 28, Rose Hill 7 — The Bullpups are home for only the second time. Hopefully there are no homecoming distractions. The expected rain could keep the score down. The start of the game is now 6:00.

Buhler 45, Augusta 14 — Looks like the Crusaders have it all going now.

Maize South 40, Winfield 0 — Another shutout for the Mavericks unless Winfield scores on the second team.

Andover Central 35, Circle 14 — Hopefully Circle’s injuries last week to its two running backs won’t keep them out this week.

Last week — 5-0. Season — 20-3.

• AREA •

Moundridge 21, Inman 7 — Normally this is a one-touchdown game, but injuries for the Teutons give the Wildcats a little more of an edge.

Central Plains 58, Little River 26 — The Redskins have been rolling. If they take the Wildcats down to the wire, that tells Fearless they could do some playoff damage.

Hesston 38, Kingman 24 — Time for the Swathers to find their second-half magic.

Canton-Galva 30, St. John 20 — The Eagles get back to .500.

Smoky Valley 41, Lyons 7 — The Vikings gear up for district with a dominating win.

Last week — 5-0. Season — 18-10.

• KCAC •

Kansas Wesleyan 45, McPherson College 27 – Too much firepower for the Coyotes. Former Bulldog Kelly Cordova can beat teams in so many ways for KW at quarterback.

Bethany 34, Saint Mary 31 — The magic continues for the Swedes, the KCAC’s surprise team of the year.

Tabor 35, Sterling 28 — Fearless never picks against Mike Gardner in a big game.

Ottawa 42, Bethel 10 — It could be an O-fer for the Threshers this season.

Friends 28, Southwestern 24 — Fearless wouldn’t be at all surprised if this score is reversed. Southwestern is much improved.

Last week — 4-1. Season 23-7.

• BIG 12 •

Texas Tech 69, Kansas 35 — Don’t expect much defense in this one unless the weather turns bad.

Kansas State 35, Texas 14 — The Wildcats will be methodical in their dissection.

Oklahoma 52, Iowa State 21 — The Sooners have had a week to recharge their batteries.

TCU 37, West Virginia 33 — TCU has hurt Fearless a couple of times this year. Time to get on the band wagon.

Oklahoma State and Baylor are idle.

Last week— 2-1. Season — 30-6.
