STERLING — McPherson College’s volleyball momentum was interrupted on Friday when Sterling College upset the Bulldogs in five sets after Mac had led 2-1.
Mac had won four matches in a row and was on the cusp of the KCAC leaders, having entered the night 7-3 in the KCAC and 11-5 overall.
Mac started strong with a 25-13 win and after Sterling tied things up, the Bulldogs were on the brink of closing out the evening with a 25-23 third-set win.
The Bulldogs, however, faltered in the final two sets as Sterling won 24-22, 15-13.
Lexi Kite had a monster match in defeat with 16 kills and 22 digs. Mady Woog added 12 kills. Jamie Siess had a whopping 35 digs, while Kaitlyn Heinis had 25 assists and Morgan Little added 20.
Mac starts the second half of the KCAC schedule on Wednesday when they host Bethany College at the Sport Center, with match time 7 p.m.
