HUTCHINSON — McPherson College’s volleyball team avenged an earlier-season loss to Saint Mary in dominating fashion on Friday and added a shutout win over York College during the first day of the KCAC’s Fall Fling at Hutchinson’s famed Sports Arena.

Mac dominated Saint Mary 25-13, 25-18, 25-19.

“The Saint Mary win was a good redemption win from when we lost to them early in the season in five at their place," Mac coach Jessica Cleveland said. "We came out with both offense and defense.”

Lexi Kite had a big match with 12 kills, while Kaitlyn Heinis and Morgan Little shared the assists lead with 17. Jamie Siess was all over the floor with 27 digs and Kite added 18.

Mac then went up against KCAC tailender York College and didn’t play down to the Panthers’ level with 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 victories.

Cleveland worked her bench players into this match. Riley Bradbury led in kills with 8, Heinis and Little notched 18 and 17 assists, respectively, and Rianne Richard led in digs with 14.

“Our underclassmen stepped up to put the ball away in our match against York,"  Cleveland said.

Mac is now 10-4 in the KCAC and 14-6 on the season. It plays perhaps the two best teams in the KCAC today by taking on Kansas Wesleyan and Ottawa, teams the Bulldogs lost to during the first half of conference play.
