Youth rodeo association holds banquet

CANTON — The Central Kansas Youth Rodeo Association, which hosts a summer youth rodeo series in Canton, held its annual awards banquet Oct. 14. 

Several area youth were recognized for top awards in the series, which had 90-plus youth ages 0 through 12th grade competing during finals weekend.

In the 0-1st grade age group, Faith McMannis, Canton, was the Champion All-Around Cowgirl and the year-end event buckle winner for girls goat tail untying, dummy roping and sheep riding. 

Also in the 0-1st age group, Wesley Prieb, Canton, was the Reserve Champion All-Around Cowboy and the year-end event buckle winner for boys goat tail untying.  Rette Krehbiel, McPherson, was the year-end event buckle winner in this age group for boys sheep riding.

In the 2nd-4th grade age group, Koy Smith, Goessel, was the Reserve Champion All-Around Cowboy and the year-end event buckle winner in boys breakaway roping and goat tying.  Katy Prieb, Canton, was the Reserve Champion All-Around Cowgirl in this age group and the year-end event buckle co-winner in girls breakaway roping.

Kacen Smith, Goessel, was the year-end event buckle winner in boys bareback steer riding for the 5th-8th grade age group. Lane McMannis, Canton, was the year-end event buckle winner for this age group in tie down sled roping.

For the 9th-12th grade age group, Cody Hazelton, Moundridge, was the year-end event buckle winner in bull riding.
