A pair of shutout wins last week helped the McPherson College men’s soccer team to have a player named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Bulldogs’ Erik Espinoza earned the honor, the conference announced today.
Espinoza, a junior, was a vital piece in a defense that posted a pair of 3-0 victories over both Southwestern College and Bethany College. He completed more than 90 percent of his passes against Southwestern and nearly that mark against the Swedes.
The Bulldogs will attempt to nail down a home KCAC quarterfinal berth with a pair of matches this week. McPherson (7-6, 6-2 KCAC) hosts Saint Mary (5-10, 1-7 KCAC) Wednesday evening, then travels to York (5-8-1, 3-4-1 KCAC) on Saturday.
