After nine matches on the road, Central Christian College’s volleyball team finally returned home on Wednesday for its first matches at Alexander Arena in the month of October.
And what a performance it put on the home faithful.
The Tigers stormed back to win the final two sets from Bacone College for their second Sooner Athletic Conference victory.
Central won the first set (25-20) before Bacone won the next two (25-28, 25-18). But the Tigers charged back for 25-22 and 16-14 victories as little separated the teams.
CCC is now 2-12 in the SAC, 6-17 overall.
“It was a hard-fought, knockdown, drag-out fight tonight against Bacone," Central coach Jeremy Manning said. "They came in ready to play and we knew from the very first point it was going to be a battle. The girls stayed in every point and competed very well tonight. We were able to control the pace for a majority of the match and with some strong serving we were able to take advantage of some easy balls coming back over."
Kacie Platt and Morgan Cook led Central in kills with 12 apiece. Hannah Fredrickson was tremendous setting up the offense, notching 33 assists. Kraus and Desiree Padilla hustled to 30 digs apiece.
Central hosts John Brown University and McPherson College on Saturday in a triangular.
