The Smoky Valley Vikings never attempted a single pass Friday night.

Why pass when you can run for 373 yards?

The Vikings relentlessly pounded away at Clay Center, rushing the ball 54 times to control the clock and come away with a district championship, 30-16.

The Vikes will be home on Friday for first-round play in Class 4A Division II. They will entertain Wichita Collegiate.

Kyle Anderson churned out 183 yards on 19 carries and scored twice, while Riley Odell rushed for 85 yards and two more scores. Cort Elliott added 76 yards on 13 carries for good measure.

Caleb Mendum was a handful for the Viking defense with 149 yards on 16 carries. Smoky Valley held the Tigers to 293 yards.

Anderson led the Vikes in tackles.

Smoky Valley is 8-1 and has not lost since Week 2 to Larned.
