SV's Peterson medals at state cross country

WAMEGO — Smoky Valley’s Josh Peterson brought home a medal from the Class 4A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Wamego Country Club.

Peterson was 17th in 17:08 as he helped the Vikings finish in the middle of the team pack in sixth. AVCTL Division III member Circle was the champion as it outlasted AVCTL Division II member Andover Central, with Hugoton third.

Smoky Valley’s Ryan Heline wasn’t that far away from winning a medal as he was 26th in 17:24. The Top 20 medal.

Other Vikings were Zach Lott (50th in 17:58), Ty Miller (71st in 18:28), Stephen Peterson (72nd in 18:32), Logan Bodenheimer (8th in 18:50) and Carter Couchman (87th in 18:55).

Collegiate’s Lakelin Conrad was the champion in 16:19.5.

Smoky Valley coach Holly Lindquist was pleased with her team’s season as the Vikings have been a major player on the state stage each of the last two years. They were second to Maize South last year.
