Both Mac cross country teams take 6th in KCAC

McPherson College’s cross country teams both came away with KCAC upper-division finishes on Saturday at Rolling Acres Golf Course as both Bulldog squads were sixth out of 12 teams.

Mac’s men scored 162 points for their sixth-place finish.

Jonathan Dominguez was McPherson's top finisher, placing 24th in a time of 27:41.11, two spots ahead of Jerod Fuller (27:43.28).

Other runners were Jesse Freeman (40th in 28:34.77), Casey Zimmerman (47th in 29:08.81), Kevin Boeckman (57th in 29:59.23), Felix Cervantes (81st in 32:14.47) and Alex Schuetz (108th in 47:53.89).

Saint Mary, led by individual champion Philip Lagemann, had six of the top eight finishers and scored 21 points to easily win the title. The Spires’ seventh runner was 11th in what was an overwhelming performance.

Saint Mary, paced by individual champion Lorena Moreno, also won the women’s race with 32 points as it had five of the top 11 placers. The Bulldogs scored 186 for sixthand were led by Samantha Nelson, who was 38th in 22:03.32. She was one place ahead of LeaAnn Myers (22:04).

Also for Mac, Ane' Archuleta placed 42nd (22:10.53), while Rachel Foreman was 45th (22:14.47). Rounding out the Mac finishers were Taylor Dreiling (55th in 22:53.66), Cassandra Valenzuela (63rd in 23:53.93) and Alyssa Wilson (76th in 26:15.25).

Four Bulldogs wrapped up their careers Saturday — Archuleta, Cervantes, Dominguez and Dreiling.
