Fearless picks MHS to end jinx against Mavericks

Fearless Forecaster needs a big final week to reach his coveted 80 percent goal.

Our picker was 12-4 last week and is now 170-45 for the season as he picks for the last time this year since the KCAC season wraps up Saturday, and two other categories have just a couple of games left. At 79 percent, Fearless needs to be almost perfect since the number of games has dwindled.

Fearless lost on Hesston’s last-second win over a Conway Springs team that hadn’t been been tested all year. FF didn't believe the Swathers could keep the Cardinals in check enough to win.

FF also missed two KCAC games, Southwestern toppling disappointing Ottawa and Bethany being defeated by Friends. In the Big 12, Fearless went with Oklahoma State to beat Oklahoma in what was a wildly entertaining game.

McPherson 21, Maize South 7 — The Bullpups finally get over the hurdle as Maize South has been their kryptonite the last two years.

Andale 34, Andover Central 14 — Andover Central is playing better, but Andale is the real deal.

• Last week — 3-0. Season — 41-6.

• AREA •

Hesston 42, Phillipsburg 35 — It will probably come down to the end. The Swathers’ offense is on fire.

Smoky Valley 20, Holcomb 14 — The Vikings are tough to beat at home.

• Last week — 2-1. Season — 40-13

• KCAC •

Sterling 42, McPherson College 21 — The Bulldogs’ defense is worn down after being on the field for nearly 180 plays the last two weeks.

Tabor 48, Bethany 21 — The Swedes had a great start to the season, but a not-so-great finish.

Kansas Wesleyan 49, Ottawa 27 — What has happened to the Braves this year?

Friends 41, Bethel 7 — The Falcons finish strong and could be the team to watch next year.

Southwestern 31, Saint Mary 28 — The Moundbuilders wind up being the KCAC’s surprise team of the year.

• Last week — 3-2. Season — 40-15.

• BIG 12 •

Texas 59, Kansas 7 — Remember last year when KU upset Texas and cost Charlie Strong his job? So does Texas. It's payback time.

Kansas State 35, West Virginia 31 — The Wildcats know they need one more win to be bowl eligible and with Oklahoma State and Iowa State to follow, they need to win this one at home.

Texas Tech 56, Baylor 45 — The defenses will stay home.

Oklahoma State 42, Iowa State 28 — The bloom is starting to come off Iowa State’s rose.

Oklahoma 31, TCU 24 — The Sooners will be held in check by their standards, but TCU doesn’t have enough offense to keep up.

• Last week — 4-1. Season — 49-11.
