Vikings, Swathers top CKL football team

Smoky Valley and Hesston were major players when the Central Kansas League football selections were announced on Monday.

Smoky Valley had four players make the first team — running back Kyle Anderson, offensive lineman Ethan Wampler, defensive lineman Konrad Peterson and linebacker Riley Odell.

For Hesston, Reese Nebel made the first team both as a wide receiver and defensive back.  Cameron Cox was picked as a quarterback.

Smoky Valley's Wampler made the second team as a defensive lineman, while Zach Able was chosen as a defensive back. For Hesston, Parker Roth was second team both at running back and linebacker, while Jesus Ramirez was chosen for the offensive line and Blake Martin was tabbed in the defensive line.

Honorable mention for Smoky Valley was Peterson in the offensive line, Cort Elliott as a linebacker and Tim Lambert as a returner.

For Hesston, Alex Koehn was honorable mention in the offensive line and Jorge Morales was chosen as a kicker.

Here is the first-team offense:

Quarterback — Tanner Schrag, Nickerson; Dalton Kraus, Halstead; Cameron Cox, Hesston; Landon Studer, Pratt; Kaden Kleiner, Hillsboro.

Running back — Travis Thies, Pratt; Anthony McConnell, Larned; Kyle Anderson, Smoky Valley.

Line — Ethan Wampler, Smoky Valley; Chance Gorges, Nickerson; Justin Lamatsch, Pratt; Jeremiah Slattery, Larned; Adam Meng, Kingman.

Receivers — Reese Nebel, Hesston; Damontay Phillips, Larned; Jacob Funk, Hillsboro.

Here is the first-team defense:

Line — Jared Curtis, Hoisington; Kolby Schrag, Nickerson; Jack Govert, Kingman; Konrad Peterson, Smoky Valley.

Linebackers — Riley Odell, Smoky Valley; Trevor Frederick, Nickerson; Hunter Jones, Nickerson; Jake Curtis, Hoisington.

Secondary — Travis Thies, Pratt; TJ Powell, Nickerson; Mason Perez, Larned; Reese Nebel, Hesston.

Here are the special teams:

Kicker — Luis Franco, Kingman.

Returner — Aric Propst, Halstead.

Punter — Brock Skelton, Larned.
