KCAC teams begin conference play Wednesday

The basketball season just started for KCAC schools and already conference play is beginning this week with a full slate of games for Wednesday and Saturday, which is a switch from recent years when games were played on Thursday and Saturday.

Because of the bloated 22-game conference schedule, which many coaches have voiced disdain for, schools will play eight conference games before Christmas.

Both McPherson College and Bethany College open conference play at home on Wednesday, with the Bulldogs playing highly talented Oklahoma Wesleyan while the Swedes take on Bethel.

The Mac men are off to a slow start, 1-3, but they have been beset by injuries as at one time four starters were out. The Mac women are 4-1, the only loss in their last game to highly regarded Bacone.

The Bethany women are 3-3 and the men are 3-4.

Here is this week’s conference schedule:

Oklahoma Wesleyan at McPherson College

Bethel at Bethany

Tabor at Southwestern

Friends at Saint Mary

Ottawa at Sterling

York at Oklahoma Wesleyan
