Pedestrians struck by car in McPherson

On Friday, November 17, 2017, at 3:44 pm, McPherson Police Officers, Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Department, responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrians collision in the 800 block of East First Street in McPherson. Investigation revealed that two girls, ages seventeen and eleven, were struck by a vehicle in the 800 block of East First Street in McPherson, as the two girls were crossing south across First Street in a marked crosswalk. The crosswalk is equipped with flashing signal lights, which according to witnesses, were flashing as the two girls were crossing the roadway, and struck by the vehicle.

The vehicle was driven by a 58-year-old female from Americus Kansas, and traveling west on First Street at the time of the collision. The two girls were injured in the collision, and subsequently transported to McPherson Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the vehicle that struck the two girls was issued a Notice to Appear (NTA) for Failure to yield right-of-way to a pedestrian.
