Swede women race past Central

LINDSBORG — It may have been a mid-morning start on Wednesday, but Bethany College and Central Christian College’s women’s basketball teams came out with guns a blazing.

Both teams filled up the basket, but it was the Swedes who never let up in a 105-73 victory. The game started at 11 a.m.

Alex Tyson led the Swedes, now 5-5, with 17 points. Lauren Welsch, Tehya Peters, Alli Wright-Fredrick and Hailey Mayfield all scored 10 for the Swedes, who lit it up for 50 points in the first half and piled on 53 more in the second half.

Havanna Yannello scored 16 to lead CCC, now 1-5 on the year. Holly Golden had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Bailey Travino added 11.

Bethany is home on Wednesday to take on Friends. Central plays an exhibition Monday at Oklahoma Baptist.
