Sports in Kansas has named McPherson High’s Wyatt Seidl as its Class 4A Division I Defensive Player of the Year.

Seidl was chosen over Dylan Downing of Bishop Miege, Lee Roi Johnson of Tonganoxie and Zach Titus of DeSoto.

Seidl helped spearhead the 4A D-I’s top defense in terms of points allowed from his defensive end spot. He had 45 solo tackles, 15 sacks, 26 pressures, a fumble recovery and blocked kick.

He earlier was named the AVCTL Offensive Player of the Year for his play at tackle and also was first-team AVCTL on defense as he wreaked havoc.

Seidl also made All-State All-Class second team by both The Wichita Eagle and Topeka Capital-Journal.

Miege’s record-breaking quarterback Carter Putz was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year.
