Here’s the McPherson Public Works Report from the Dec. 4 City Commission meeting:

Locating Services: Proposal from Piping Technology Company and USCI

Motion to approve contracting with Piping Technology Company and their fee structure for locating services as required by the Kansas Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act and authorize the Mayor to sign all related documents.

It is time to renew the service contract to perform sanitary and storm sewer locates for the City of McPherson to meet the requirements of the Kansas Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act (KUUDPA).  We received two quotes.  After analyzing the two, I recommend Piping Technology Company.

Access Agreement (Larson and Associates) Environmental Investigation

Motion to allow Larson and Associates to conduct an environmental investigation in public ROW associated with underground storage tanks near 2201 E. Kansas and authorize the Mayor to sign the access agreement.

We have a request from Larson and Associates to install monitoring wells near 2201 E. Kansas Avenue in the ROW.  The monitoring wells are part of an environmental investigation that KDHE has contracted with Larson and Associates to conduct regarding underground storage tanks in that location.

Update on the Barnstormers-Premier Subdivisions Project

Work started on the Barnstormers/Premier Subdivisions last week.  Dirt work is under way and some of the erosion control devices have been installed.

Announcement of Public Meeting-Grease Ordinance

We will have two public meetings today, one at 3:00 pm and a second one at 7:00 pm in the Commission Room at the Municipal Center.  We have sent notices to all restaurant owners and location managers in the City.  Anyone that is interested may attend.  Everyone is welcome to come to either or both meetings.  We have a short PowerPoint presentation followed by a question and answer session.   We will also have copies of the draft Grease Program Ordinance available.
