When Derby’s girls invade the Roundhouse tonight for the top basketball showdown in Kansas, it’s now a matchup of No. 1 against No. 2.

The Panthers have vaulted to the top of the KBCA Class 6A rankings and take on the Bullpups, still the No. 2 team in Class 4A Division I, at 6:00.

The rankings are still the same for the boys game as MHS is No. 2 in 4A-DI and Derby is No. 4 in 6A. That game should start somewhere close to 7:30.

Also in the area, both Hesston teams remained ranked, the boys moving up to No. 2 this week and the girls are at No. 6.

Elyria Christian’s boys, who open their season tonight, are No. 5 in Class 1A D-II. The Smoky Valley boys, despite losing their opener, are No. 8 in Class 4A D-II and the Moundridge girls are No. 9 in Class 2A.
