McPherson College’s basketball teams return home for an afternoon matinee on Saturday with Ottawa after playing their last two games on the road.
Fans should take note of the early starting time, with the women’s game at 3:00 and the men to follow.
In the women’s game, the Bulldogs will be looking to get back on track after back-to-back losses for the first time. They were edged 53-52 on Wednesday by second-place Friends, losing despite holding the Falcons to just 2 points in the second quarter.
Mac is now 3-3 in the KCAC, 7-4 overall.
Ottawa is in a rebuilding year after losing stars Ashley Romig and Madi Stewart to graduation. The Braves are 1-5 in the conference and 3-9 overall.
This is a chance for the Mac women to get on a min-roll before the holiday break as after playing Ottawa, they host another 1-5 team, York, on Wednesday in the last KCAC game before Christmas. The Bulldogs are 6-0 at home, just 1-4 on the road.
The Mac men are still after their first KCAC win after falling to 0-6 on Wednesday with an 81-72 loss to Friends after leading much of the game. The Bulldogs, who have been beset by injuries and attrition, have lost nine straight and are 1-10 overall.
Ottawa comes in at 4-2 in the KCAC and 4-6 overall. It’s coming off a huge 87-82 win over No. 20 Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday, its third in a row. The Braves also defeated Bethany (84-68) and York (104-94) during that span.
