The New Construction Homebuyer Incentive Program (NCHIP) which started in May of 2013 and was extended for an additional two (2) year at the end of 2015 until December 31, 2017, will soon be expiring.  In multiple discussions with the governing body, there has been some desire to look at extending this program for an additional three (3) years.

The ordinance extends the NCHIP program from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2020.  The NCHIP program provides down payment assistance and rebates on the City portion of property taxes for individuals moving into a new home within the City Limits of McPherson.  The incentive was designed to encourage current and future residents to build new housing and expand the housing footprint of McPherson.  Since it's inception in May 2013,  the following number of homes have participated in the program on an annual basis:

Year              Number of Homes

2013                       13

2014                       20

2015                       18

2016                       12

2017                       11

With new streets going in Barnstormers in 2018 they expect the number of homes to increase again in 2018 and over the next three years.
