McPherson College’s basketball teams wrap up the KCAC portion of their schedule with a rare Tuesday night home game.
The Bulldogs host York College at the Sport Center. Fans should take note of the special starting times, 5 p.m. for the women and 7 p.m. for the men.
The Mac women are 4-3 in the KCAC and 8-4 overall, while the Panthers are just 1-6 in the KCAC and 4-9 overall.
The Bulldogs are 7-0 at home and coming off a 10-point win over Ottawa on Saturday.
York’s only win was a 66-64 decision over Southwestern, but since then they have been been blown out in back-to-back games by Bethany and Friends.
The key for the Bulldogs is to not play down to the level of their competition, especially knowing that after this game, they don’t play for nearly three weeks. Their next action is Dec. 29-30 in the Kansas Wesleyan Classic in Salina.
For the Mac men, 2018 can’t get here soon enough. The Bulldogs have been decimated by injuries to three probable starters and another player expected to play key minutes left the team. The result has been an 0-7 KCAC record and 1-11 mark overall, with 10 straight losses.
But the Bulldogs have played much better recently, taking both Friends and Ottawa down to the wire last week.
York is 4-3 in the KCAC and 7-5 overall. The Panthers are still earning Top 25 votes, maybe more for their past history than anything else.
York is coming off an impressive 82-66 victory over Friends after having defeated Bethany 91-90 on a buzzer-beater.
The Bulldogs play at Haskell on Thursday, then prepare for a trip to Puerto Rico on Sunday and Monday as they play University of Sacred Heart and University of Puerto Rico-Carolina.
