LINDSBORG — Oklahoma Wesleyan’s basketball teams crossed the state line on Tuesday  and then returned home from Bethany College’s Hahn Gym with a pair of victories.

The Eagle women outlasted the Swedes 64-56, pulling away in the second half after it was just a two-point OW lead at the break.

Lauren Welsch scored 16 points to lead the Swedes, who are now 4-4 in the KCAC and 8-7 overall. Tiffany Rieger led the Eagles with 19.

Bethany is off until Dec. 30 when it plays an exhibition game at Fort Hays State.

The 20th-ranked Wesleyan men were given a push by the Swedes, but the Eagles held off Bethany 72-62 after leading by 14 at the half.

Reed Stephens had his best game as a Swede with 17 points, while Isiah Saenz added 15. Also in doubles for the balanced Swedes were Mitchell Brown with 14 and Sebastien Jean-Charles with 12.

Bethany fell to 2-6 in the KCAC, 5-10 overall. The Swedes are on the road Saturday to play the University of Texas-San Antonio in an exhibition game, which is coached by McPherson High grad Steve Henson.
