HUTCHINSON — McPherson’s eighth-grade A-boys were outlasted 42-37 by Hutchinson on Thursday to fall to 4-2 on the year.
Seth Madron scored 23 points and Jayden Dukes chipped in with 11 to lead the Bullpups.
“The team only had two guys score a field and that was Jayden Dukes and Seth Madron,” MMS coach Tyler Brown said. “We did improve our free throw shooting percentage from 0 to 52, so we still have a ways to go in that stat. I do feel like we are close to turning the corner, but just still feel these guys are swimming up stream. They just make things harder than they need to be.”
The B-team earned the split with a 36-32 success, led by Xavier Sutherlin with 14 points.
“I was very pleased with the B-team getting their first win on the year,” Brown said. “We had several guys get in the scorebook. But it wasn't all about scoring they are learning and starting to run what we are asking of them. Xavier stood out to me. He handled the ball very well and was able to get to the basket tonight. Bryaden Conquest also I felt brought energy to the team when he was on the floor. The B-team played very well.”
MMS A (37) — Madron 23, Dukes 11, Ruddle 1, Buckbee 1, Ediger 1.
MMS B (36) — Sutherlin 14, Brooks 6, Conquest 5, Schriner 4, Cruzen 3, Johnson 2, Gibbs 2.
