BUHLER — McPherson High’s wrestling team pretty much knew it was going to defeat Buhler before it ever stepped on to the mat on Thursday.

The Bullpups were gifted 30 points as Buhler was open at nearly half of the weights as it did not fill six of the 14. MHS was open at one weight.

Still, the Bullpups had to go out and seal the deal, which they did by a 57-18 score to improve to 10-1 in duals and build momentum for Saturday’s Abilene tournament.

"Lot of opens," MHS coach Doug Kretzer said. "We wrestled good both on JV and varsity.  It’s tough to get up for a match when you know many of your kids aren’t going to get a match.  We’ll wrestle a lot of matches on Saturday at Abilene. We've got some very good competition there.  I’m pleased with where we are right now as a team."
