It could be a first.
Central Christian College’s basketball teams will host Texas Wesleyan on Thursday, but there’s a twist.
They are afternoon games, which are normally reserved for Saturdays.
The women’s game has a 1 p.m. start at Alexander Arena, while the men’s game should get under way approximately 3:00.
In the women’s game, one of the teams will earn their first Sooner Athletic Conference victory this season as both are 0-4 in SAC play. Texas Wesleyan is 2-10 overall and Central is 1-11.
All eyes will be on the men’s game as the Rams are the defending NAIA national champion, but their defense of the title has not started well. Texas Wesleyan is just 1-3 in the SAC, 6-6 overall.
Central Christian is also 1-3 in the SAC and 7-4 overall. The Tigers played Saturday at Emporia State in an exhibition game, trailing only 35-34 at the half before losing 72-60.
Both Central teams remain at home on Saturday as Southwestern Assemblies of God comes to town. It’s the second of three straight games at home for the Tiger teams, who begin the month playing six of seven at home.
