One of the most popular youth events of the year, the McPherson Elks Hoop Shoot, is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 21, at Eisenhower School, 301 E. Wickersham Drive.
A free throw competition that has been around for more than 45 years, this year’s event is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Hoop Shoot will not jeopardize any eligibility as there are no cash prizes or scholarships awarded. There is no charge to compete and will be authorized by Elks Club members.
The division winners advance on to district, then regional, then state, with the finale being the national championship.
This is for youths ages 8-13. Age groups are based on ages on April 1, 2018. If the contestant will be 7 on April 1, they will not be eligible to compete. If the contestant will be 14 on that date, they also will not be eligible to compete.
