McPherson’s eighth-grade A-boys ran their basketball record to 6-2 here Monday by easing past Salina South, 32-20.
Seth Madron led MMS with 15 points and Jayden Dukes just missed doubles with 9.
“The A-team was able to jump on them early in the first quarter putting up 15 points,” MMS coach Tyler Brown said. “But once again our opponent fell back into a zone and we struggled. We scored only 2 points in the third quarter and were outscored in the second quarter as well. I'm still waiting for a complete game from this group. But we were able to get the job done after a long winter break and get a win on our home court on a Monday night, which is never easy.”
The B-team rode a 16-point effort by Anthony Brooks to a 35-17 victory to improve to 2-3.
“I was very pleased with the B-guys tonight, especially Anthony Brooks,” Brown said. “He looked like a man among boys. He really could do whatever he wanted. But with the entire B-team we were able play man to man and just get after it.”
MMS plays Thursday at Newton.

MMS B (35) — Brooks 16, Schriner 7, Jones 3, VanCampen 3, Conquest 2, Gibbs 2. 2 points not accounted for.
