Braimbridge, Sury lead Mac thinclads

CRETE, Neb. — The McPherson College indoor track and field teams won a pair of events and set a handful of personal records and season-bests Saturday at the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic hosted by Doane University at the Fuhrer Field House.

Amy Braimbridge won the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 58.86 seconds and ran on the team's runner-up 4 x 400 relay team that stopped the clock in 4:08.74 - just 0.11 off the school record. She was joined on the relay by Genevie Rivera, Tatelyn Lasley and Ane' Archuleta. 

Rivera added a seventh-place finish in the 400 (1:02.73), while Archuleta added a PR and a team season-best in the mile with a 5:58.69 clocking. 

Camille Baugh added a pair of PRs and team season-bests with a sixth-place finish in the 60 hurdles (9.87) and an eighth-place finish in the high jump (1.55 meters; 5-1).

Other PRs came from Miaya Sample in the 60 dash (8.30), Destiny Johnson in the 200 (28.06), Alyssa Wilson in the 1000 (4:08.24), Samantha Nelson in the mile (6:02.75) and 3,000 (12:39.34), Ilanna Moyer  in the shot put and weight throw (10.44m; 34-3) and Morgan Little in the weight throw (11.68m; 38-4).

For the McPherson men, Hunter Sury matched his PR and team season-best from a week ago with his winning time of 6.90 seconds in the 60-meter dash. His time was just 0.04 seconds off the school record of 6.86 seconds.

Jonathan Dominguez took second in the 5,000 with a time of 16:07.66 and added a PR in the 3,000 with a sixth-place time of 9:16.75.

Amari Heisser had a busy day, taking third in the 400 (51.88), fourth in the 60 hurdles (8.69) and leading off the Bulldogs' fourth-place 4 x 400 relay (3:30.47). His 60 hurdles time was both a PR and a team season best, just missing the school record by 0.07 seconds.

Casey Zimmerman anchored the relay and also came home with a team season-best with a third-place finish in the 800 (2:00.99).

Hector Bosquez posted PRs in both the long jump and triple jump. His triple jump of 13.34 meters (43-9.25) placed him eighth overall, while his long jump of 6.25 meters (20-6.25) was a team season-best.

In the 1,000, Felix Cervantes posted a team season-best (2:54.92), while Kevin Boeckman posted a PR (2:58.03).

Matthew Bouwkamp just missed the finals of the 60 dash, placing ninth in 7.13, then added another ninth-place finish in the 200 (23.30). Jerod Fuller also took ninth in the 5000 (17:12.40).

Other Top 8 finishes came from Xavier Taylor, who took fifth in the 200 (23.15), and Robert Shaw, who placed seventh in the high jump (1.93m; 6-4), while Bryson Crayton and Matthew Nutting  posted PRs in the 400 (53.02) and high jump (1.88m; 6-2), respectively.
