Oklahoma Wesleyan was the clear-cut choice by KCAC baseball coaches to win the conference title this season.
The Eagles were the unanimous pick to win the title in a vote of coaches announced today. They won the conference last year with a 22-6 record and were 50-9 overall, advancing to the NAIA World Series, where they lost both of their games.
They are ranked No. 9 in the national preseason poll.
Longtime KCAC power Tabor was picked second. Friends was third.
McPherson College’s Bulldogs were picked seventh, one spot ahead of Bethany.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 24-30 season, 12-14 in the KCAC. They had gone 20-35 the previous year, but 8-44 in 2015. Bryan Moses led Mac to a school record for wins last year in his first season at the helm and has bulked up the Bulldog roster this year with a strong recruiting class to join a good group of holdovers.
Former McPherson High standout Jeremy Kennedy is the new coach at Bethany. The Swedes were 6-20 in the KCAC, 22-32 overall.
