Hesston cagers make semifinals

HILLSBORO — Hesston’s girls advanced to the semifinals of today’s Trojan Classic as they rode the hot hands of Kailey Jo Ince and Elise Kaiser on Thursday for a 44-32 victory over Republic County.

Ince made 7 of 8 shots and scored 15 points to lead the Swathers, who play Holcomb at 3:00 in the semifinals.

Kaiser made 6 of 10 shots and scored 15 points to aid the cause. Hesston shot 47 percent for the game.

Hesston’s boys were a 63-57 winner over Riley County in overtime.  The Swathers stormed back with 21 points in the fourth quarter, then outscored Riley 10-4 in the extra session.

Reese Nebel exploded for 28 points to lead Hesston. Cameron Cox chipped in with 15. The Swathers play at 4:30 today.
