It appears we could have one great game and one dud on Sunday in the NFL’s conference championship games.
The great game will be Minnesota at Philadelphia, while the dud is going to be Jacksonville at New England.
• Minnesota 21, Philadelphia 17 — You have to wonder how the Vikings will ever come down from the Minnesota Miracle.
The Vikings should probably never have been in that position to begin with. They had a 17-0 lead over New Orleans and total control of the game, only to see a couple of mistakes let the Saints back in it.
The Eagles are a mystery. Nobody really knows how Nick Foles will hold up at quarterback. Needless to say a healthy Carson Wentz and the Eagles would be the favorite.
Case Keenum is hardly a household name, but he’s found a way to get it done for the Vikings. I see him doing it one more time.
• New England 31, Jacksonville 17 — The Jags have ridden their defense to the championship game, but we’re talking Tom Brady here.
Jacksonville QB Blake Bortels is wildly inconsistent. He had his good game last week in the stunning upset of Pittsburgh, which certainly got the Patriots’ attention.
But New England is New England. I think the Steelers would have been a better matchup, but give the Jags credit. This is a turning point in their franchise.
