GOESSEL — Moundridge’s girls will take a full head of steam into the upcoming Hilltop Classic as they dominated a good Goessel team 45-28 on Friday.

Moundridge coach Brian Holloway said he was especially pleased with his team’s defensive performance as the Bluebirds normally have a lot of firepower.

MHS led 13-11 after a quarter, then held Goessel to just 2 points in the second period to open up a 22-13 lead. The third quarter was just as stifling, as Moundridge gave up only 3 free throws and no field goals.

Recent Sterling College signee Bethany Stucky had another big game with 19 points, 11 in the second half, to lead the Wildcats. Kourtney Kaufman knocked down 3 3-pointers and scored 12.
