Andover’s seventh-grade boys outlasted McPherson 35-30 in basketball action here Monday.
Sam Becker led the Bullpups with 16 points.
“Seven points through three quarters will put anyone in quite a hole, but we actually dug out of that hole and tied up the game with just over a minute left,” MMS coach Eric Burghart said. “A tough call and a late miscommunication lost us the momentum and the game and it's certainly not the reward I was hoping for these guys after the way they battled. It's getting too late in the season to continue looking for moral victories in losses, the time is upon us that we need to start putting together four straight quarters of excellent basketball.”
“I was extremely proud of all of our guys tonight, but especially Mason Miller for keeping us in it with his rebounding in the first half, and Sam Becker and Hunter Alvord for providing that offensive spark in the fourth quarter. I thoroughly enjoy working with this group and look forward to getting back at it tomorrow.”
The B-team lost 33-23 despite 8 points by Roman Mai.
MMS A (30) — Becker 16, Alvord 8, Miller 3, Feil 3.
MMS B (23) — Mai 8, Gumm 7, Bocox 3, Shetler 3, Bena 2.
