The McPherson Housing Coalition (MHC) has set the date for the annual 2018 Brush Up Mac service project.
The one day event will kick off on Saturday, April 14, 2018, and with the help of community volunteers, MHC will help seniors and single parent household’s repair, clean up and complete safety modifications to single family homes. Together they want to “Brush Up” the community while providing a much-needed service to those in the local neighborhoods. This event is county wide and they are open to applicants and volunteers from around the area.
Brush Up Mac (BUM) is a volunteer service project of McPherson Housing Coalition. Each year in April, BUM rehabilitates homes in McPherson County utilizing volunteer teams from the community. Homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled and low income families have difficulties with simple tasks such as yard work and many can’t financially pay for small home repairs. Last year BUM helped 25 families with yard work, painting, ramps, debris removal and minor home repairs.
The MHC is seeking donations, volunteers and most importantly families who need help with minor home repairs and yard work.
On Saturday, April 14, volunteers will meet at the First Univted Methodist Church for breakdast at 7 a.m. and then designated teams will begin projects. Breakfast is served and prepared by the BUM Committee members and all volunteers will receive a BUM shirt. Each team will have a house captain who has experience in directing volunteers.
