Olathe South did what Olathe South always does in the Mid America Classic.

And that’s win.

The Falcons are now 16-0 in Classic history as they began their drive for a sixth title with a methodical 37-22 victory over Ulysses in the third game of the day.

Olathe South goes up against the winner of McPherson and Shawnee Mission South in Friday’s late game, while Ulysses, which comes back to the Roundhouse next month for the sub-state, plays the second game against the MHS-South loser.

Both teams were offensively challenged in the first half as they suffered through miserable efforts from the field. South led by a first-quarter-like score of 15-7 as it was just 6 of 24 from the field and the Tigers were even worse at 3 of 17. The teams also were a combined 2 of 18 from 3-point.

The Falcons finally started to pick up the pace in the third quarter as they sped up the tempo to take a 28-17 into the fourth quarter and preserved the margin in the final quarter.

South held Ulysses to just 7 of 38 from the field, 1 of 12 from 3-point.

Caroline Harshbarger led the winners with 14 points. Madison Haney came off the bench for 6 points to lead the Tigers.
