DERBY — McPherson High's boys bowling team put up some big numbers again Thursday to stay undefeated in head-to-head action.

The Bullpups, who have won four straight duals or triangulars, burned the lanes for a 2,684 to defeat Mulvane (2,615) and Augusta (2,483) in what was a high-powered triangular as all three teams threw well.

MHS' Taylor Miller was electric with a sizzling 736, including games of 269 and 247. Also with big numbers were Matt Stiggins (678, with a 236 high) and Mr. 299, Clayton Ouellette, whose 675 was led by a 242 in his first game.

"Good meet for us, it is a confidence-builder going into the Great Plains tournament," MHS coach Herb Halinski said.

The MHS JV boys put up some nice scores as well, including a 587 by Wyatt Eisenbarth, which included games of 203 and 201.

"The JV boys were quite the surprise as they excelled and bowled very well," Halinski said. "Wyatt had a great day and would like to bowl there all the time."

The MHS girls were short-handed with just five bowlers and finished with a 1,569 to trail Mulvane (2,315) and Augusta (2,254). Brooke Miller had a 443 to lead MHS.

"The girls did fine, but we still have to work on the basics," Halinski said.

The Bullpups have a two-day tournament starting today in Wichita.
