SEDGWICK — Inman’s girls came up just short of reaching the finals of the Sedgwick Invitational on Thursday, losing 40-37 to Wichita Independent in the semifinals.
Inman led 21-15 at halftime, but Independent — now 10-2 — roared back with a 13-5 third quarter.
Lauren Maurer scored 12 points to lead the Teutons, and MaKayla Michael and Macy DeWitt chipped in with 10 apiece.
Inman plays Fairfield at 4:00 Saturday for third.
• Canton-Galva 37, Chaparral 33 — The Eagles made a huge rally in the fourth quarter to avoid being Chaparral’s first victim of the season.
C-G received 13 points from Tia Moddelmog and 11 from Alexa Bell. The Eagles were down 17-13 at the half.
The Eagles play Clearwater at 2:30 Saturday for third. Clearwater won its first game of the year on Thursday by edging Belle Plaine.
