The real Christianna Carr showed up for the Manhattan girls in the first semifinal of the Mid America Classic.

Carr suffered through a 1-of-10 game and just 7 points in Manhattan's great escape in the first round against Shawnee Mission Northwest.

She then got off to a 2-of-8 start against Wichita Northwest, but then she showed the form that will make her a Kansas State Wildcat next year.

Carr scored 10 of her 17 points in the second half as the Indians pulled away from the patient Grizzlies 46-29 as they are one victory away from avenging their loss in last year's championship game against Olathe South.

For there to be a rematch of last year's finals, Olathe South will have to knock off McPherson in the last game of the day.

The Indians survived despite another frigid shooting performance from the field. They took a 19-18 lead into the break despite making just 7 of 24 shots, which was just better than the 6-of-22 performance by the Grizzlies.

They were better in the second half, while their defense was stifling as the Grizzlies aren't built for a comeback as they are methodical in what they do. Once Manhattan pushed the lead to 32-24 after three quarters, they steadily pulled away.

Kia Wilson and Morgan Worthington added 8 points apiece for Manhattan after they had scored in double figures in the opener.

Dejanae Arnold led Northwest with 7. The Grizzlies play the Olathe South-McPherson loser in the third-place game.
