When the Hays Indians return for the sub-state in March, they’ll be returning to a Roundhouse that wasn’t very kind to them in the Mid America Classic.

Shawnee Mission South made Hays the only 0-3 team of the Classic with a 53-49 victory in the seventh-place game.

The Raiders won the game from the foul line where they made 26 of 37, compared to just 6 of 15 for the Indians.

Leading the way at the stripe was Robyn MacDonald, who was 11 of 15 and finished with 21 points, while yanking down 15 rebounds for a double-double. Karoline Shelton was 9 of 10 at the line and compiled 19 points.

It was tight throughout as the Raiders led 27-26 at the half and still were up 41-37 going into the fourth quarter. Hays managed to get it tied, but South immediately responded to pull away.

Isabel Robben had an amazing game off the bench for Hays with 20 points and 7 rebounds, while drawing a remarkable 7 charging fouls. There were 44 fouls in all, 26 on Hays.
