Olathe South entered the Mid America Classic with a 15-game winning streak in the event, having never lost in its 5 years.

It leaves with two straight losses.

Less than 24 hours after losing to McPherson in the semifinals for its first Roundhouse loss, the Falcons ran into spirited and aggressive Wichita Northwest, which parlayed its passion into a 50-33 victory to take third place.

South was left at the starting blocks as the Grizzlies jumped out to a 9-0 lead and went on for a 23-12 advantage at the break. Northwest stayed locked in as it pushed the lead to 37-25 after three quarters and the Falcons stayed stone cold.

It was Northwest’s highest finish in its three years of competing in the Classic.

Alexis Snodgrass was superb for the Grizzlies with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Madison Surmeier added 15 as she was 6 of 7 from the field.

Dani Winslow scored 11 for the Falcons.
